Project Update
Thermal Charging
Wizard made a proof-of-concept design and manufactured a, so far, working prototype of a capacitor, that can be charged with heat instead of elictricity.
KitKat made a tool, that generates the structure for the charging cell automatically, based on parameters. The created (modell or the date respectively) can then be exported into a speadsheet very easily. This theoretically allows the calculation of volatage and amperage.
VRC World
With the help of Wizard, Wrench is creating and improving the VRChat world. The idea is for some future community meetups to be hosted in that world as well as potential interviews or something along those lines.
Part designing and manufacturing
Manufacturing lines and process
For setting up manufactoring, Xometry looks promising. They are specialised in setting up manufatoring lines, are working together with “local” manufacturers are providing good (enough) quality for a not so expensive price. If higher tolerances are needed, their price goes up quickly but because of our design, we are not in need of that high of an accuracy. Getting first quotes from them is as simple as setting a company account at their website and easily contacing them with that. This will be the plan in the future when we have full models and are in a later stage of development.
For future mass production of units, injection molding will definitly be more cheaper even with the much higher starting cost. Also when looking at high quality 3D printed units the prices easily go higher then injection molding, therefore the decision was easy.
Lenses
We got in contact with a profesionall optician/lens manufacturer who will assist in future optic and lens question as well as some slight lens manufacturing, especially (rapid) prototyping.
KitKat and Wizard will discuss first questions to ask and contacting will happen as soon as the next meeting.
Community: Discord Roles
Due to multiple complaints about the roles or the role naming respectivly, Trailmix and Raffy will discuss the naming of roles, especially Moderator, as well as the structure of the roles. The plan currently consists of renaming and splitting the contributing and proffesion roles to better show of who is contributing in what segemnt. This follows the scheme of spliting proffesional in-team develpoing and discord member contributing to MS Teams ans Discord respectivly. The goal is to animate people to contribute more by giving them more rewarding and inviting roles and positions.
