How it came to be
In early 2021 roughly April-may I was attending a meetup of a VR-YouTuber. We talked about various topics as well as full-body trackers and how they worked. That is when I first heard of SlimeVR and decided that their approach on full-body tracking using inverse kinematics was stupid in my opinion. So I set out to create one of my own. The B.U.T.T. was born. Logic invited me to a discord server shortly after; filled with a bunch of technomaniacs who all worked on various things at the time. I talked to some of them and got some help to get the B.U.T.T. started. now after about 1 year of development we CFVR have the first working iteration of the tracker and are proud to present it to you. Since it is still an imu-based tracking system it has a few issues such as drift. We were able to find a solution to that with a custom algorithm to negate the drift and achieve optimal tracking accuracy of about 1mm.
What it is
The B.U.T.T. is a prototype tracking system utilizing imu sensors in conjunction with a custom tracking algorithm to achieve optimal tracking quality for a more affordable price. Due to its design Basestations are not needed for the operation of the tracker.
specifications of B.U.T.T. CT5.1
- around 80h of battery life
- around 1-2mm of tracking accuracy (theoreticly)
- size 40x40x40mm
